What is a Dental Implant?

Implant Pre op

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root (synthetic material) that is surgically anchored into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. They do not rely on neighbouring teeth for support so they are permanent and stable.

The dentist must perform surgery to anchor the artificial root into or on the jaw bone under local anaesthesia. The procedure can take up to nine months. However they are a good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth.
